Lady Mary Killigrew was a pirate in England around 1550. Her husband was a lord and used to be a pirate, but then he turned and was sent out to catch pirates. When he was out at sea, Lady Mary Killigrew took the staff from her castle with her to her ship and they were pirating in the neighborhood, making sure they were back before her husband returned from sea.
The Pattern: You can download and print this pattern with two descriptions. One version with no photos for cheaper printing, and the other with photos that you can look at on your Ipad or computer as you sew the bag. The pattern comes in a separate PDF. The pattern pieces are color coded according to the fabrics you use, and there are labels you cut out to pin to the pieces of fabric you have cut. There is also a material list, telling you what you need of fabrics and hardware to make this bag. There is a cutting list as well, to tell you how many of each pieces you need to cut, and in which fabric.
The Bag: Both the front and the back has a zipper pocket. The front features two vertical design panels and both the front and the back has dekor panels up top and near the bottom. The pattern comes with two different strap connectors, so you can choose which one you want to use. The inside lining features a zipper pocket and two slip pockets. One or two tassels are nice decorative touches. So are the rivets on the handle and strap connectors. The handles are rolled handles with a cord inside, and long enough to carry the bag on your shoulder.
Measurements of bag:
Width: 13 inches
Height: 9 inches
Dept at the bottom: 4 inches
